Temporary Chilled Storage

Client: Tesco Store, Crawley

Background: The Tesco superstore chain is continually improving the layout of their stores. To assist the company through one of the refurbishment programmes, Spaciotempo was invited to provide temporary storage space to house Tesco’s goods.

Requirement: As well as assisting with the refurbishment programme, the area needed to provide some kind of insulation, as many of the goods to be stored were sensitive to heat and cold.

Solution: Spaciotempo provided a temporary storage building made up of two separate buildings, which were gutter-linked together. Hired for a six-month period, the temporary buildings were fitted onto tarmac and came complete with lighting and a fire sprinkler system.
To help create a temperature-controlled environment, a double skinned roof was installed. This roof is formed from a tough washable and flame retardant PVC polyester membrane envelope, which is inflated by a low-pressure automatic pump system. As the system gives a greater level of insulation an accurate temperature can be maintained.

Benefit: With the unique roof system in operation condensation was minimised and a higher level of insulation achieved, creating a suitable temporary storage environment while the refurbishment work took place.
