Temporary building helps Botanic Gardens GrowFounded in the 17th century as a ‘ Physic Garden ’, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE), now contains over three million delicately preserved plant specimensAs part of the garden’s expansion plans, ‘The Gateway’ is a new £15.7 million visitor centre designed to bring to life the world of plants and the scientific work of RBGE through a unique set of interactive experiences and activities. Due for completion in Spring 2009, the new building will sit on the footprint of existing buildings at the West Gate, including the existing RBGE shop.
