Fenmarc / Greenvale AP

“Companies such as Fenmarc and Greenvale AP are not interested in the hassle of a permanent expansion, as it would cause too much disruption to their business,” explains Scott Jameson, Managing Director at Spaciotempo. The pace of their industry is far too quick and quite volatile as it can be affected by the environment. They prefer to utilise the temporary structures to minimalise the risk to the overall business, a philosophy other organisations are also adopting.”

Case Study

Two of the UK’s biggest vegetable growers, supplying Britain’s best known supermarkets and stores, have installed Spaciotempo’s temporary buildings to extend their operation for newly awarded contracts and continued business growth.

About this job
For over 40 years Fenmarc has been growing, preparing, packing and supplying vegetables to the major multiples and wholesale markets. Based in East Anglia and operating across the UK, Fenmarc is established as one of the leading fresh produce suppliers in the UK, employing over 400 people.

Greenvale AP is a leading supplier of fresh potatoes. With ten offices including three packing sites and a processing site strategically located in key growing regions around the UK, Greenvale AP supplies all the major stores.

Requirement
When existing customers for both clients increased their orders, Fenmarc and Greenvale AP both needed to expand their operations as they were rapidly out growing its existing facilities. With time against them, temporary structures that work as well as permanent buildings were the ideal solution.

Building
A 500 square metre temporary building was installed at Fenmarc’s site and was operational in no time, being used for vegetable storage and dispatch.

Greenvale AP already had three Spaciotempo buildings installed and added a fourth temporary building on the same site, with the new 600 square metre building dedicated to taking in for deliveries from fields and the dispatch of produce to a national supermarket chain.

Challenges
The temporary buildings needed a blacked out roof to stop the fresh produce going to seed and had to be temperature controlled at all times to ensure the product is kept at its best.
