Family-run boatyard turns to Spaciotempo for its third tunnel
A family-run boatyard turned to Spaciotempo when it needed a third retractable tunnel for its Lymington site.
Berthon Boats, which has been trading since 1877, caters for all aspects of yacht and motor boat repairs, refits, maintenance and servicing.
Due to the nature of the company’s work, it required additional space to store masts while crafts were being repaired in the workshop.
It contacted the UK’s leading provider of temporary buildings, opting for a tunnel measuring 4.5m by 20m by 3m when fully extended.
Owner Dominic May said: “This is our third retractable tunnel from Spaciotempo and we have always been pleased with the product.
“We are using the new tunnel to store masts in so that they are protected from the elements and kept safe while the boats are undergoing repairs.
“Some of the masts are quite large so we needed a decent sized cover to accommodate a number of them at any given time. The new tunnel can fit five large masts inside, so it is a good size – it does exactly what we need it to.”
The two other tunnels at Berthon Boats’ are used to keep particles in a contained area – and protect the environment – while shot blasting is carried out.
The tunnels feature PVC skirting on each side to close the gap at the bottom and pneumatic rubber tyres for ease of movement.
Spaciotempo offers bespoke industrial tunnels, canopy storage and loading canopies to suit all operational and logistics’ requirements.
They feature anodised aluminium structural arches, connected by galvanised steel pantographs, to create a truly robust product.
The retractable tunnels are available in sizes ranging from 2m x 3m x 2m right up to 15m x 15.6m x 5m, guaranteeing a solution to meet every requirement.
