Spaciotempo came to the rescue for the Penrith branch of Morrisons, following a devastating fire in the crucial build-up to Christmas. Our solution was to provide a bespoke temporary supermarket to enable them to carry on trading as usual.
In Penrith, Cumbria, Spaciotempo came to the rescue for supermarket chain Morrisons, when a fire destroyed their store. With 50 firefighters battling through the night to save as much of the building as possible. In the crucial build-up to Christmas they needed a rapid temporary building solution to their loss of storage capacity.
Spaciotempo responded immediately to the supermarket’s call. And because of our flexible in-house manufacturing and agility of in-house installation, we could complete the installation of a brand-new temporary supermarket facility, only 8 days after the fire. The semi-permanent building from Spaciotempo, provided 1000 sqm of combined supermarket and temporary warehousing, which was then running and ready for business straight away. From request to installation, in just over a week a full turnkey package was specified to include heating, specialist flooring and fully glazed windows to create an appealing shopping environment.
David Garner, Morrison’s Project Manager commented, ‘The reaction of the team at Spaciotempo was instantaneous. Recognising our dilemma, they set to work immediately on a temporary building solution that would suit our needs. They even engaged with a flooring contractor who could rectify the slanting ground on which the building was to be sited. Their installation team worked seamlessly with our staff and the end result makes for a superb temporary supermarket which allowed us to carry on our important Christmas trading.’
