Isle of Wight based school; Christ the King College has recently undergone major development and a key phase has been to take delivery of a modular sports hall building from Spaciotempo to help with a raft of school activities.

The 700sqm building, predominantly installed for use a sports hall, has doubled up to provide sufficient space for assemblies and worship for all students.

The School needed a temporary facility to provide a much needed space before the BSF programme gets underway. Spaciotempo were chosen as a result of a competitive tender and the preferred design of the roof trusses providing an increased unobstructed internal height.

The building has enabled students to benefit from a larger multi-use games area ensuring that indoor PE and extra-curricular sports activities can accommodate more participants.

The building has been specified to a high standard, including specialist flooring and sports light fittings to ensure a high quality playing environment. Dividing nets means that the space can be divided up into smaller areas when required.

The inflated thermo roof not only assists with temperature control, but also aids teaching through its improved acoustic qualities, allowing teachers to be heard more effectively, in what is a very busy environment.

Christ the King College appointed WYG Management Services Ltd to manage and design the project which included modular classrooms and external areas in addition to the new sports hall. The project was completed in October 2010 and has been extremely well received by the School Community.

Dave Corbin, Regional Director of WYG stated “Spaciotempo were very professional in their approach during all phases of the project. The Team requested some specific requirements in the Pre Construction phase which were acted upon by the Spaciotempo team without delay and with purpose. On site, the project was well managed and normal difficulties experienced in construction projects were overcome in a proactive and positive manner. The School will benefit greatly from the new facility during what will be a significant period of change”.
