A well-known retailer in Greater Brighton & Hove needed a custom building to expand their forecourt
The temporary retail building was installed to support their operations and enable the expansion of their retail space.
Requirement
The goal was to create a structure that allowed for increased product stock, improved customer experience, and adaptability to cope with the expected foot traffic.
They required a robust, energy-efficient, and all-weather solution that could blend seamlessly with their existing site while incorporating space for their own branding as part of a semi-permanent petrol station.
The solution
Spaciotempo delivered an 8m x 20m retail building, covering a total area of 170m². This structure was purchased outright, providing the retailer with a long-term solution. Installed in 2019, it has since proven its durability and adaptability. The semi-permanent retail building underwent a seamless rebrand when a new company took over, demonstrating how easy it is to update and maintain its professional appearance.

Developing the semi-permanent retail building
The structure was designed to meet stringent Eurocodes, ensuring exceptional strength and longevity. Adhering to standards for snow loads, wind resistance, and the design of steel and aluminium components, the building is both safe and reliable. The entire structure was securely anchored to a concrete base using tailored ground fixings for maximum stability. Located in a popular throughfare route, these characteristics are essential for it to perform effectively for its intended use time after time.

Components
The roof, made from flame-retardant PVC-coated polyester, included a thermo-inflated system powered by a 240V continuous pump. This feature provided superior heat retention and protection against adverse weather. The walls, constructed from 40mm thick PIR sandwich panels, offered excellent thermal efficiency and weather resistance, while solid gables enhanced insulation and security.
To maximise functionality, the retail building featured a double sliding door, a single personnel exit door, and six large windows, allowing for easy accessibility and plenty of natural light. To add a finishing touch, a sleek grey finish was chosen, perfectly complementing the surrounding area and aligning with the retailer’s site. Additionally, a dedicated panel was included, allowing the retailer to incorporate their own branding for the petrol station, reinforcing their identity and attention to detail.

Standing the test of time
First installed in 2019, this semi-permanent retail building has demonstrated exceptional durability and adaptability. Over six years, it has continued to perform reliably, even undergoing a rebrand when the site changed ownership. This rebranding process highlighted how easily the structure could be updated to meet new business needs, making it a future-proof investment.
