Family run business, Francis Brown Ltd, has a long heritage of supplying high quality engineering and fabrication solutions to industrial markets in the North East. The Stockton on Tees based business was established in 1903 and is still run by the Brown family over 100 years later. The company has expanded from modest roots to become a leading player in the chemical, oil, gas and marine sectors in the UK.
John Bowes, Contracts Manager of Francis Brown recently won an interesting contract to overhaul and refurbish a large burner for the acrylics industry. With no space to accommodate the 6m high burner in their existing factory the company turned to Spaciotempo to provide a temporary structure for a period of 6 months; the time needed to complete the job. Located adjacent to the factory the building enabled work to be completed on site with full access to plant, equipment and staff.
The 10m (W) x 15m (L) x 7m (H) building was sourced specifically for its ability to provide an unusually high roof to cover and protect the burner during the refurbishment. A thermo roof, personnel and roller shutter doors were specified to provide an ambient atmosphere for the employees working on the project, whilst specialist lighting was sourced by Spaciotempo for the client to ensure excellent visibility over the burner.
John is delighted at the solution provided;
“The flexibility of the building and the service from Spaciotempo has been perfect for us. Their temporary structure provides adequate roof space for this job – which we couldn’t find from any other supplier – and the ability to rent the building for the duration of the contract has enabled us to manage the job on site, rather than sourcing an external space. I’m delighted with the solution.”
Mark Taylor, Managing Director of Spaciotempo, agrees that the building’s use highlights the key benefits of using temporary space;
“This unique application really highlights how flexible our buildings are. They are perfect for short term or bespoke projects allowing customers to have the extra space for just as long as they need it. We can dismantle the building as soon as the project is complete and the client stops paying the additional costs”.
