An enduring partnership to help Farrell Transport deliver their renowned logistics expertise.

As part of the Pallet-Track network, the Nottinghamshire based needed a robust, lasting logistics canopy to meet current demand and speed up future growth plans. Spaciotempo had a single solution to both requirements.

Requirement

With nearly 40 years’ haulage experience, Nottinghamshire-based Farrell Transport is a leading provider of high-quality pallet distribution and warehousing solutions. As part of the Pallet-Track network, their Staunton transport hub is often a hive of activity, and the pressure is on to get an increasing volume of double-deck trailers, loaded and out again, as quickly and effectively as possible.

A desire to accommodate more freight, and streamline operations to make them more efficient, led Farrell Transport to get in touch with Spaciotempo to explore options for a new permanent loading canopy.

A key driver was the ability to future proof operations to allow for growth, and to accommodate as many trailers as necessary, under cover and protected from the elements while they were loaded.

The solution

Spaciotempo’s solution is a cost-efficient 40m span canopy, from our Oxygen range, with its distinctive curved roof.

Inside the permanent canopy solution

Aside from pure aesthetics, this feature has very practical benefits. The clear span it affords, allows trailers to be manoeuvred easily, without the need to navigate around inconvenient upright supports. 

With versatility knowing no bounds, it also boasts an integrated secure storage facility running down the left hand side, allowing goods to be stored immediately adjacent to the loading operations for quick and easy loading, saving yet more time.

Standing the Test of Time

Spaciotempo revisited the permanent loading canopy 5 years on from installation and even now, it is a hive of activity every single day – especially in the early morning hours when their fleet of HGV’s are being loaded for the delivery schedule of the day. 

Due to tight deadlines, the bulk of the pallets are transferred from open sided trailers under the protection of the canopy, directly onto the lorries, between the hours of 6 – 8AM in a controlled but extremely busy loading environment. The goods are then given one final inspection before they are sent on their way to their destination.

The permanent canopy solution protects freight and employees alike and in the ensuing time has propelled Farrell Transport to reach new heights, coming full circle allowing them to achieve their initial goals of doubling their handling capability.
